Typical conventional IVF protocol involves preparation of the cycle by using birth control pills or Estrogen for 2-3 weeks, followed by daily injection of high dose IVF medications such as Gonal-F, Follistim or Menopur to stimulate and maximize egg production. Some women may be good candidates for conventional IVF but for many others, more eggs do not always translate to more good quality embryos or higher live birth rate.
We provide optimal dosage of medication in conventional IVF protocol based on your age, AMH level, follicle number and your goal of family size to allow growth of a good number of eggs but also avoiding unnecessary high doses of medication, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, and/or potential negative impacts on egg quality.
Common side effects include abdominal bloating, pain, weight gain, nausea, vomiting and ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). However, women rarely develop severe complications such as blood clots.
